Digest Emails: Yea or Nay?

Digest Emails: Yea or Nay?

Are digest emails a boon for valuable engagement or do they discourage visits to your community? There are points to each side.

Digest emails can remind users about discussions that are happening in your community and encourage them to visit. On the flip side, too many digest emails can overwhelm users, leading to abysmal open rates and unsubscribes. Case in point: LinkedIn Groups digest emails. The default is a daily digest. How many of us don't even bother to open it unless the subject really catches our eye?

Then there's the question of how much content to include in the digest emails. Just include a subject and you may not entice your members. Include too much content and they no longer need to visit the community unless they have something in particular to add.

Take our quick poll below and add your thoughts about digest emails in the comments. We'll revisit this topic in the future.
