Music for Relief raises funds for projects to help families and children recover. Projects may include rubble removal, rebuilding of homes, rebuilding of schools, safe spaces for children and psychosocial support. Since its inception, Music for Relief has mobilized fans of over 100 musician partners to raise over $5,000,000 in donations to help survivors of disasters such as the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Hannah, Ike, & Gustav, Typhoons Ketsana, Parma, Morakot, and Lupit in Southeast Asia, the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, Monsoon Flooding in Pakistan and more. The organization was recently recognized by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon for the Download to Donate program to raise funds and awareness in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake. Music for Relief also supports environmental programs as a means of disaster risk mitigation including the planting of over 1 million trees to help reduce global warming.
